In the heart of Dallas, Texas lies an award-winning gaming center that is redefining the intersection of design and technology. Dubbed the Greenville Room, the initial concept of this rebuild — a hand-drawn idea on a piece of paper — was to create a ceiling that emanated light, according to Justin Dohman, the owner of Elite AVL.

The heart of this transformation lies in the lighting, Dohman says, and thousands of feet of seamless LED tape from American Lighting. Working hand in hand with the designer and builder, Elite AVL deciphered the intricacies of incorporating the lighting within the millwork, Dohman says.

“The true test was coordinating with the millwork company, ensuring that each LED tape was meticulously embedded within custom-cut wall panels, all of which were to be installed onsite. The precise positioning was crucial, as even minor discrepancies could jeopardize the overall design.”

When first stepping into the Greenville Room, the ceiling radiates a warm 2700K glow, which Dohman says brings a layer of sophistication to the space right from the outset.

Meticulous attention to color and accenting not only elevates the ambiance but also serves a functional role. Bright LEDs strategically positioned over cash registers and vending areas ensure clarity, facilitating smoother transactions for both staff and patrons.

Of course, Dohman’s quick to say that the artisanship extends to behind the scenes as well.

“Technically advanced LED wire runs were strategically positioned every 13 feet, ensuring no voltage drop, thus preserving the light’s intensity and consistency,” Dohman notes.

“Moreover, the careful decision to eliminate splices in the LED tape creates a continuous stream of light, elevating the aesthetic of both coves.”

Then, there’s the pièce de resistance: the wall accent lighting. It not only complements the ceiling but also ignites curiosity, “leaving many wondering about the magic behind its creation,” he enthuses.

Yet, it’s not solely about gaming. The Greenville Room also doubles as an entertainment hub. Thirteen sleek Vizio TVs are mounted throughout, ensuring that visitors can catch live sporting events, adding an extra layer to the multisensory experience.

And, punctuating the air are the resonant notes from Klipsch audio systems, offering an auditory experience as rich as the visual.

Finally, Dohman says the Control4 integration is what truly makes the project come together. “The lighting isn’t just about visual appeal but about user experience,” he states. “Every light is dimmable, programmable, and entirely under the homeowner’s command, offering an unmatched blend of luxury, innovation, and functionality.”
