Optoma UHZ50 4K Gaming, Home Theater Projector

Launching a new 4K, laser-based projector designed for gaming and home theater applications, Optoma has announced its UHZ50 projector.

Optoma says that its latest projector produces up to 3,000 lumens of brightness and contrast ratios as high as 2,500,000:1. The new UHZ50 4K laser projector features an Enhanced Gaming mode to enable gamers to game on big screens with just 16ms of response time in 4K UHD and 4ms in 1080p at 240Hz.

Internally, the UHZ50 4K projector incorporates Texas Instruments’ (TI) DLP technologies, along with Optoma’s Duracore laser technology. Through the combination of these technologies, Optoma says the projector is capable of 24/7 operation, and up to 30,000 hours of maintenance-free operation.

The projector also provides HDR10 compatibility, along with HDR brightness adjustments, and the capability to fully reproduce the Rec. 709 color gamut. Additionally, Optoma notes the projector offers DCI-P3 color gamut compatibility.

Other features built into the UHZ50 4K projector include a 1.3x zoom, keystone and vertical lens shift, and a trio of HDMI 2.0 inputs.

Optoma emphasizes that one of the three HDMI 2.0 inputs includes Enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC) options, and the company adds the projector provides a pair of USB ports to support the use of media sticks.
