Providing its dealers with a 12-channel whole-house audio amplifier, McIntosh has announced its new MI1250 amplifier.
McIntosh says that its latest multichannel amplifier provides integrators with a versatile solution that can be used to distribute audio content throughout a home. The new MI1250 amplifier is rated to produce 50 watts into an 8-ohm load and 90 watts into a 4-ohm load using its closed-loop digital switching amplification technologies that are paired with McIntosh power supplies.
The Class D, 2U-high amplifier is rack mountable and McIntosh emphasizes the amp runs quietly through its fanless design.
McIntosh points out the MI150 features multi-color LED status indicators on its front panel, and the amp’s back panel features unbalanced inputs (RCA), along with 2-pole phoenix style push-in speaker terminals for each channel. The rear panel of the amp also includes controls for volume balancing, as well as two digital audio inputs (either coax or optical) that can be bussed, and channel summing circuits for mono signal distribution.
Some of the amp’s other features include the company’s Power Guard signal overload technology that prevents the MI1250 from overdriving speakers; Sentry Monitor, which is a McIntosh short-circuit protection technology that disengages the amp’s output stage before the amp’s current exceeds safe operating levels, and 12-volt trigger options.
Additionally, the amp offers “eco-friendly on/off signal sensing, and McIntosh’s familiar industrial design that is highlighted by a black-glass front panel housing.
