Creating a complete luxury amplification solution, Dan D’Agostino Master Audio Systems has announced its new Relentless Preamplifier.
Designed as a companion to its Relentless Mono Amplifier, the company’s new benchmark preamplifier is said to offer users a host of innovative features and design elements. The Ariz.-based audiophile manufacturer says at the heart of the Relentless Preamplifier’s design is a three-chassis architecture with dedicated chassis for each channel and a separate power supply centered between the two that keeps power supply connections as short as possible.
The three chassis interlock through special mechanisms within their feet, and Dan D’Agostino Master Audio Systems explains the power supply employs magnetic shielding to keep radiated interference away from critical preamplifier circuits. The power supply also employs internal line conditioning that filters RF noise on the AC power and it compensates for asymmetric power waveforms and DC on the mains.
The Relentless Preamplifier’s input stage in each mono preamplifier is new for the company. The topology features a discrete differential FET input stage that utilizes a voltage input signal capability of 30 volts. Dan D’Agostino points out the input stage’s 1MOhm of input impedance helps the preamplifier deal with electrical issues related to connected source components.
Dan D’Agostino Master Audio Systems adds the Relentless Preamplifier provides XLR (balanced) inputs that rejects common-mode noise, and all signal gain is accomplished in current domain using proprietary multiple-output current mirrors that are said to be more linear than other designs.
In addition, the preamplifier provides dual-source/dual-zone capabilities, and an optional Digital Streaming Module (DSM) that includes SPDIF coaxial, optical, USB-A and RJ-45 connections.
