In 2023 Samsung introduced its first OLED-based gaming monitors to the market, and in 2024 the company is following up those releases with the announcement of its latest Samsung Odyssey OLED monitors.
The new Odyssey OLED G9 and OLED G8 products are the first Samsung monitors the company says to incorporate its OLED Glare-Free Technology that it says minimizes daylight- and ambient-light reflections to enable gamers to use the monitors at any time over the course of a day. The new Samsung Odyssey OLED monitorsโthe G95SD, the G80SD, and the G60SDโare designed to provide users with high dynamic levels, fast response times and clear images.
Samsung points out the monitors offer features such as VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro processing to eliminate image judder and screen lag.
According to the company, the OLED G9 and OLED G8 offer users 0.03ms response times and 240Hz refresh rates to provide gamers with fast and smooth responsiveness for their gaming sessions. Both products also incorporate the Samsung Smart TV platform to offer users access to all of today’s popular streaming media sources, and access to the company’s Samsung Gaming Hub, which eliminates the need for a gaming console.
Other features the OLED G9 and OLED G8 Samsung Odyssey monitors offer include the ability to serve as an IoT hub to control smart-home IoT devices.
The G95SD is a 49-inch curved ultra-wide monitor (32:9 aspect ratio) that delivers a 5120×1440 resolution. The G80SD monitor is a flat, 32-inch OLED display that delivers a 4K-compliant 3840×2160 resolution, and it offers a 16:9 aspect ratio. Rounding out the trio of new Samsung Odyssey OLED monitors is the 27-inch OLED G60SD, which delivers a 2560×1440 resolution, along with a 360 refresh rate.
