Two leading custom installation firms in the Boston area have merged to create a powerhouse company with three New England locations. Audio Video Design and Sounds Good Corp. are now simpleHome.
Audio Video Design based in Wellesley, Mass., has been in business since 1973 and owned and operated by Brad Smith. Sounds Good has been a fixture in the Boston area since 2002 and is owned by Greg Brett. As simpleHome, Smith takes the reins at CEO and Brett is COO.
The veteran duo will bring a new, comprehensive approach to home technology, service, education and design. simpleHome creates a partnership that seamlessly blends smart home technology into the design at whatever scale is appropriate for the house and budget.
“Home automation used to be a luxury, but now it is a necessity. Advances in healthy lighting that mimics natural body rhythms, automatic shading, and outdoor speakers that deliver high fidelity music across the yard, and the ability to monitor your home from anywhere in the world—these innovations will become mainstream. The world of home automation has so much to offer, and it is our mission to bring it to you,” say Smith and Brett.
The unification also means that their veteran design, engineering and installation teams are now together. Audio Video Design is one of the forerunners of home electronics nationwide and Sounds Good Corporation forged a model to simplify design in luxury homes. The simpleHome team will include industry veterans Bob Riddle and Tara Pavia. Back in 2018, Sounds Good opened its new showroom showcasing Control4 and other solutions.
“We know that design and building professionals have been seeking a company that truly simplifies every step of the process, from client consultation to implementation and service — and never oversells,” say Brett and Smith in a letter to customers.
The company is also deploying a new service model known as the Proactive Service Plan which provides turnkey priority support to homeowners. In the luxury home market, reliability of service providers is paramount. The newly combined company has three showrooms and its brand portfolio includes Lutron, Ketra, Hunter Douglas, Control4, Crestron, Seura, Revel and Savant.
The simpleHome location at the 7 Tide Experience Center, located in Boston’s Seaport District, is state-of-the-art showroom that offers hands-on meetings with the entire design-build community along with other high-end manufacturers Sub-Zero, Wolf, Cove, Kohler and Marvin.
“Our 7 Tide experience center allows architects, builders, interior designers and their clients to engage with the technology in ways that make sense to them,” says Brett. “With design top of mind, we demonstrate that we care about the overall placement and aesthetic of every space, as well as our commitment to providing excellent service to the homeowner well into the future.”
“Our role is to professionally manage the entire technology scope from A to Z,” said Smith. “We are experts in the field and have an amazing team of people. Most importantly, our two companies have a reputation for being a resource for you, engaging early and making for a smooth process. Together, we add even greater value to our industry partners with a promise of responsiveness and performance.”
