Adding a total of five new solutions to its Dynamo series, the latest MartinLogan subs provide integrators with a choice of models that bundle a host of installation-friendly features. Ranging in retail cost from $400 to $1,700, the new 400, 600X, 800X, 1100X and 1600X subwoofers are engineered to provide users with a choice of solutions that balance performance and value.

The subwoofers incorporate MartinLogan design elements such as inverted-surround woofers, along with powerful magnet structures with lightweight diaphragms.

Powering these high-excursion drivers are the latest-generation Class D amplifiers and a choice of hardwired connection options including left and right RCA inputs, with the right input on the 400 and 600X doubling as an LFE input.

Models starting with the 800X and above include dedicated LFE inputs, and the 1100X and 1600X add XLR balanced input options.

The products also include 12-volt triggers, allowing external sources to turn the subs on or off. The 800X, 1100X and 1600X also support the ability to simultaneously connect stereo and home theater systems with individual crossover points.

X Marks the Spot for MartinLogan Subs

MartinLogan states that all subwoofers designated with the X as part of the model number incorporate wireless connectivity options.

When employed, MartinLogan's SWT-X Wireless Subwoofer System, which is sold separately, provides the means to wirelessly transmit low-frequency bass signals via the 2.4GHz wireless spectrum. The SWT-X system utilizes forward error connection technologies, and it has a range of 50 feet.

The subs also provide Anthem Room Correction (ARC) to help address the common problem of quality bass reproduction in small rooms. ARC is available for users on PC, iOS, and the Android platforms.

When using a smart device, the 600X, 800X, 1100X and 1600X connect via Bluetooth, and when using a PC, they connect via USB.

MartinLogan's app can control the volume, low-pass filters (frequency and order), phase, 20 to 30Hz level, three preset listening modes, and the ARC configuration options for the subwoofers.

Additionally, the 800X, 1100X and 1600X subwoofers provide front firing or down firing options.

According to MartinLogan, the subwoofers convert from standard down-firing products to front-firing subwoofers without the need for tools or special training. The company also provides a grille for front-firing configurations.
