Going almost in almost a completely new direction, the White Plains, N.Y.-based manufacturer Madison Fielding is deviating from its traditional line of speakers, which includes its Planterspeakers, and launching a new line of amplifiers.

Developed to meet a variety of applications in the residential and light-commercial markets, the new line of amps offers a choice of five products.

The amps offer features such as:

  • gold-plated input jacks
  • gold-plated brass five-way binding posts
  • switchable stereo/mono operation
  • audio triggers with sensitivity controls and variable delay, professional-style three-band equalization (EQ)
  • switchable two- or four-channel operation on the four-channel models
  • loudness controls that “automatically lowers the boom as the volume increases”
  • Control options such as RS-232, IR
  • The company's own two-wire RWP-1 volume control on the RPA models

Looking at the five models within the line, each model offers its own unique feature set:

PA-600: A two-channel, stereo model that is rated to deliver 300 watts into 8 ohms.

PA-4225: This is a four-channel version of the PA-600, and dealers can use it to drive stereo in a single location or to power pairs of speakers in separate rooms.

RPA-600: This product provides 300 watts into 8 ohms, along with EQ for use as a stand-alone product or as part of an entire whole-house audio system.

RPA-4225: This amplifier builds onto the features of the PA-4225 through the addition of EQ and remote capabilities.

RPA-SS3: This product is a subwoofer/satellite amp indoor and outdoor applications. The N.Y.-based manufacturer says the RPA-SS3 produces 225 watts into 8 ohms in satellite mode or 300 watts into 8 ohms via its subwoofer output.

Madison Fielding adds the amps all employ B&O's ICEpower modules.
