Over the past several years through the growing trend of people using their computers as music listening devices, the sales of active or “powered” speakers have increased. This past fall the popular A/V manufacturer Klipsch announced its R-15PM powered monitor loudspeakers, which build upon the basic premise of active speakers by including features that aren't typically found in these products.

Klipsch says the R-15PM speakers are designed to fill rooms with sound without taking up much space due to the product's small footprint. The speakers feature a 1-inch aluminum diaphragm compression driver that is mated to a 90-degree x 90-degree Tractrix Horn, and a 5.25-inch copper spun magnetically shielded IMG woofer.

The Midwestern manufacturer says the speaker offers a range of inputs that include a pair of RCA phono inputs with a switch for phono/line-level input usages, as well as a USB input for use with computers; a digital optical input, a 3.5mm mini-jack input, and Bluetooth wireless connectivity options. Klipsch also notes the speaker includes RCA line-level out options for the addition of a powered subwoofer, and an IR remote control.

Klipsch adds that its goal with the R-15PM powered monitor loudspeakers is to provide homeowners with a versatile and room-friendly speaker solution that can be used with computers, turntables, TVs and smart devices without hassle.
