Late last year, DISH launched an integration of the Google Nest Hello Doorbell with its Hopper set top box.
Dealers can now offer Hopper customers a powerful yet low cost solution for monitoring a front entrance while watching TV. After a simple pairing step, customers will get notifications when a doorbell press event occurs. This notification will appear in the bottom right of their display or video projection and will timeout after 15 seconds or it can be dismissed with the back button.
In addition to monitoring a front door, customers can keep an eye on just about any sensitive area on their property. Use cases could include monitoring of a rear entrance, gun safe or wine cellar, just as examples.

After you install the free app and connect Hello to Wi-Fi, you can get a notification on your phone or tablet when:
- Someone rings the doorbell
- Hello spots a person
- Hello spots any activity or sound
If you add a Nest Aware subscription, you can get intelligent notifications when:
- Hello detects activity in a particular area of its view (Activity Zones)
- Hello sees a familiar or unfamiliar face (Familiar Face alerts)
In addition to these native features, the DISH Hopper integration offers these Product Capabilities
- Sends notification to all host hopper family receivers on the account
- Send doorbell press event notification to the STB (Receiver must be IP connected to receive notification)
- Notification will display a static image of the event.
- Notification will timeout after 15 seconds or will be dismissed with “Back” button press
- User can visit Google’s resource picker URL to configure the doorbell devices that are paired to the receiver
