Chicago might be home to football’s “Monsters of the Midway” Chicago Bears, but local integrator Electronic Lifestyle Associates (ELA) more than proved it could tackle one monster of an installation project.

The rack and cabling system submitted by vice president Bradley Elliott to this year’s Great Looking Racks contest, sponsored by Middle Atlantic Products, certainly demonstrated proficiency and tidiness requisite to be named winner.

According to Elliott, the company realized its prowess in providing detailed engineering and documentation to several of the trades would be critical in the success of this “Iron Range Home” project, which encompassed 23 rooms and 7,500 square feet. The home featured a sizable addition and updating of its interior and exterior living spaces. (Check out ELA’s gallery of the entire project beyond just the racks here.)

The firm’s detailed prewire schedule and planning made pulling 3.8 miles of low-voltage wiring extremely organized and efficient, Elliott reports. The wiring covered HD video, surround sound and stereo audio, networking, telephony, lighting control, motorized shading, surveillance, accent lighting and environmental control systems. Additionally, ELA can reset every device in the system with remote management capability.

“Integrating control of these entertainment and technology systems was accomplished with the URC Total Home Control platform. The clients can operate this home locally with in-wall iPads, handheld Apple devices, handheld universal remotes or remotely manage the home from their Arizona winter residence,” Elliott notes. “The foundation for the operational success of these systems is a professional-grade network, which has been documented and planned to handle the real-world demands of the client.”
