Building upon its most recent product introductions, Denon has announced its 7.2-channel, 8K-compatible AVR-S960H receiver.
Denon says that its new, reasonably priced $649 AVR-S960H allows home entertainment enthusiasts to improve their AV experience while avoiding a significant cost investment.
“On the heels of the X-Series launch earlier this month, we’re excited to offer another AV receiver that gives users the ability to dramatically upgrade their movie and gaming nights at a price we think is really going to excite people,” notes Jake Mendel, product marketing manager for Denon AVR & Hi-Fi components.

Value-Minded Denon AVR-S960H Loaded with Features
Addressing a range of home entertainment activities, Denon points out that its latest receiver incorporates a dedicated 8K HDMI input that supports 8K at 60Hz and 4K at 120Hz.
The receiver also supports the HDR10+ dynamic HDR format, and new HDMI options such as Quick Media Switching (QMS). QMS enables a source to quickly switch the resolution or frame rate to eliminate screen blackout.
Denon says some of the other video formats its new AVR-S960H supports include HDR10, Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) HDR, Dolby Vision HDR, 4:4:4 Pure Color subsampling, and BT.2020 wide color gamut pass through.
On the audio side of the home entertainment equation, the receiver offers immersive audio options such as Dolby Atmos, Dolby Height Virtualization Technology, DTS:X, and DTS Virtual:X.
Highlighting its power capabilities, the receiver is rated to produce 90 watts into 8 ohms, two channels driven.
Additionally, the AVR-S960H incorporates eARC (enhanced Audio Return Channel) to deliver uncompressed and object-based surround sound to the receiver via a single HDMI cable.
Moving beyond its AV capabilities, Denon says the competitively priced receiver provides its Setup Assistant to tailor the performance of the unit to each home environment.
At the heart of the AVR-960H’s Setup Assistant capabilities is the Audyssey room equalization platform. Denon comments that dealers can download the Audyssey MultEQ Editor app to expand on Audyssey’s custom EQ options.
Supporting other home entertainment functions, the receiver employs the company’s HEOS whole-house audio platform to allow integrators to build out an entire whole-house audio system with services that include Spotify, TIDAL and more.
In addition, users can benefit from voice control via the Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Josh.ai and Apple Siri technologies.
Moreover, the AVR-S960H, which will be available in July 2020, provides users with Apple AirPlay 2, Bluetooth; support for high-resolution audio, and Roon Tested certification.
