August Home has been making big waves in the competitive smart lock market with the release of its second-generation August Smart Lock.
In this short video Q&A with CE Pro, Mike Buckingham, director of August Pro, explains how the gen 2 version of the August Smart Lock now includes the Apple HomeKit chip.
Indeed, the product has now been relabled as the August Smart Lock HomeKit Enabled to help differentiate it further in the market.
He also explains how easy the lock is to retrofit in less than 10 minutes, along with other new features such as the magnetic release for the battery compartment.
Other new features include compatibility with Works With Nest and Amazon Echo.
Meanwhile, the success of August among consumers has driven the company to create the new August Pro division as homeowners demand professional installation support for the Smart Lock and the Doorbell Cam. Coming off CEDIA 2016, Buckingham says the company will be working on compatibility with other home control systems for integrators.
