Bose, the Framingham, Mass.-based company famous for its Wave radio, headphones and Acoustimass home theater products, also offers a line of wireless whole-house speaker products. Recently, the Bay State manufacturer enhanced the integration options of its wireless SoundTouch line of products by releasing the SoundTouch Developers API.
Through the release of the API, Bose says control and automation companies now have the ability to incorporate the convenience of its SoundTouch line into their systems to enable homeowners to easily play back and manage their music collections. Acting quickly, one of the first manufacturers to tap into the availability of the newly released API is the New York A/V company Key Digital. Now available to support is Compass Control system, Key offers a two-way driver to facilitate the integration of SoundTouch products into its Compass line of products.
Speaking about the importance of the API release, Glenn Gomes-Casseres, product line manager for Bose SoundTouch, points out the integration of the products naturally complements other system solutions within the custom electronics market.
“Bose SoundTouch systems are the easiest way to stream music in your home, whether it be through the powerful SoundTouch app, our six convenient presets or through our API implementation into partner software,” he says. “Ultimately, the API delivers a new experience for our customers with SoundTouch, and we’ve made the API publicly available to encourage other companies—even hobbyists—to innovate and design these new experiences.”
Gomes-Casseres explains that in order to ensure the smoothest possible integration of the system, Bose has been in constant communication with dealers. This process dates back to the launch of SoundTouch in late 2013. Looking ahead, he says that as the line and control technologies mature the company will continue to keep pace with the advancements made in the control and automation category.
“We wanted to create new ways for our customers to integrate music into their homes though SoundTouch systems, and this API enables that,” comments Gomes-Casseres. “By working seamlessly with these types of products, SoundTouch can create a better experience for streaming music in the home. We’re committed now and going forward to supporting and enhancing our API as we introduce software updates to our SoundTouch systems.”
