Crestron has officially launched Home OS 4.5, the latest update to its smart home control platform that introduces new capabilities such as expanding smart lock integrations to other third-party lock manufacturers, advanced lighting capabilities through integration with DMF’s PhaseX technology, and features native integration with CoolAutomation HVAC systems.
In a blog, the company says Home OS 4.5, available now, is designed to address several key integration challenges with the platform, especially for door locks.
The updates were teased at ISE 2025 in Barcelona, and CE Pro got an early look at some of these during a tour of the company’s booth. Now, they’re generally available.
Expanded Smart Lock Integrations
A standout feature in OS 4.5 is the introduction of enhanced support for smart door locks. Previously limited to native integration with Yale door locks in the U.S., the platform now supports third-party door lock drivers. This development enables seamless integration of a wide range of wireless door locks through a new “Door Lock Device Type” feature.
Michael Short, Crestron’s vice president of marketing operations and residential, says the update eliminates a major pain point for integrators working with Crestron Home.
“The new ‘Door Lock Device Type’ feature empowers Crestron Services Providers (CSPs) to create native drivers for virtually any wireless lock, opening up a world of possibilities,” Short says.
Homeowners benefit from more granular control, including user profile creation, PIN code management, and the ability to set access permissions for individual doors, the company says.
Lighting Integration with DMF PhaseX
The update also brings advanced lighting capabilities through integration with DMF’s PhaseX technology, which enables DMX signal transmission over existing power lines, reducing complexity in installation and setup. It integrates with Crestron Home’s Digital Lighting Platform and supports DMF’s Artafex 2 and Artafex 4 product lines via the DMX-C protocol and DIN-GWDL gateway.
Short describes PhaseX as a “game-changer.”
“It combines the PhaseX simplicity of installation and commissioning with the reliability, performance, and intuitive nature of the Crestron Home OS Digital Lighting Platform,” Short says in the blog.
Improved HVAC Control with CoolAutomation
According to Crestron, Home OS 4.5 also features native integration with CoolAutomation HVAC systems, replacing the previous reliance on BACnet communication. The new driver offers a more streamlined interface and intuitive control over complex HVAC setups, the company says.
The update supports multiple HVAC zones, enabling users to adjust settings such as fan speed, target temperature, and operating modes for each zone. It also provides real-time diagnostic data and centralized control from within the Crestron Home app.
Other improvements
Other refinements in OS 4.5 include enhanced user experience within the app, such as stricter password requirements for room name changes and improved navigation responsiveness.
Crestron continues to invite integrators to participate in its beta testing program, allowing them early access to future updates. This initiative helps ensure that integrators are familiar with new features before they are rolled out to clients.
