Somfy, a global manufacturer of motors for interior window coverings and exterior shading solutions, will be launching several new shading technologies during the International Window Coverings Expo 2025 (IWCE 2025) show, which will take place on April 14-16 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Somfy’s newest product is the Top-Down Bottom-Up 45 WireFree Zigbee motor, a patented solution that allows a single motor to control both top and bottom shade bars. While most window shade motors can only lower the shade the company asserts, Somfy’s Top-Down Bottom-Up 45 WireFree Zigbee motor enables users to move the entire shade up or down, or only have the top or bottom bar move for added privacy and control of natural light. Additionally, the Zigbee motor can hold the shade at a particular height in the window, and once the shade is positioned, it can be moved up or down to allow light to enter from above and below the shade.
Paired with the dedicated Ysia 5 TDBU Zigbee remote, which provides intuitive, user-friendly control for all functions, the Top-Down Bottom-Up 45 WireFree Zigbee motor the company contends, is a unique innovation in shading solution and a significant addition to Somfy’s Zigbee Connected Ecosystem.
“At Somfy, we are constantly innovating our window treatment solutions to address the needs of our customers,” says Brent Holup, senior product manager for interior wirefree & drapery products at Somfy. “With the Top-Down Bottom-Up 45 WireFree™ Zigbee motor, we’ve built a patented shade solution that allows users greater control over the amount of light entering a room. The elegant and simple-to-use patented Ysia Top Down Bottom Up remote completes the package, bringing additional ease and style to residential and commercial spaces.”
Somfy will also be featuring its Sonesse 40 WireFree Zigbee (Li-ion) (USB-C) & Glydea Ultra 50 Wirefree Zigbee motors, DecoFlex WireFree Zigbee keypad, and the Ysia 5 Variation Zigbee remote control for sheer & zebra shadings, as well as tilt blinds during IWCE 2025.
