Speech-recognition provider JStar LLC will start shipping its “whole home artificial intelligence platform” Josh.ai during CEDIA 2016, which begins Sept. 15.

Josh.ai brings voice control and integration to such brands as Crestron, Lutron, Meridian (Media Core audio streamer) and Sonos. Users can speak through mobile devices via the Josh.ai app or through mic-enabled services such as Amazon Echo.

Josh employs natural language processing (NLP) for complex commands to enable users to say such things as “Play the song Ride, open the shades, dim the kitchen lights, and close the garage.”

The Josh.ai app for mobile devices allows clients to tap and swipe commands, in addition to using voice control.

The enabling software ships on a server called Home Base that plugs into the home network.

CE Pro covered Josh in more detail earlier this year. The “suggested retail” price of the product was $14,000 at the time, but Josh is no longer publishing MSRPs, allowing integrators more flexibility to set their own prices.

The company has said it would only accept 100 customers this year.

New video shows Josh.ai in action, including Amazon Echo integration.
